Special Teams driven by Chevy
“The Miami Dolphins Special Teams is a unique volunteer organization created to enlist and mobilize the ongoing services of the community with the Miami Dolphins staff, players and alumni. The mission of the Special Teams is to offer hands-on services to communities and families in need, to partner with existing organizations on worthwhile social, civic and charitable programs, to provide assistance at Miami Dolphins Foundation events, and to support community efforts in times of emergency”

Special Teams Driven By Chevy results:

  • More than 100,000 community service hours completed
  • $1,866,000- Value to the South Florida and Mexico Community
  • 7,836 Active volunteers completed at least one hour of community service
  • 82% of the volunteer activities benefit local nonprofits

 
Signature events:

November 3-4, 2012 - Dolphins Cycling Challenge: The Miami Dolphins Special Teams Driven by Chevy volunteers have supported the Dolphins Cycling Challenge since its inception in 2010.   This two day, tri county cycling event involves over 1,000 cyclists and volunteers tackling cancer one mile at a time. The DCC has raised over $1.6 Million for cancer research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center over the last two years.  This year’s Dolphins Cycling Challenge will take place on November 3rd and 4th 2012.



November 17, 2012 - National Family Volunteer Day:

The Miami Dolphins Special Teams encourages the entire family (young and old) to volunteer and make a difference in your community.

In Miami-Dade County, the Miami Dolphins Special Teams Driven by Chevy Volunteers and Miami Zoo will team up once again to help beautify the very popular Miami Zoo. Volunteers will help with painting, mulching, planting and of course they were allowed free entry to the zoo after their hard work.

In Broward County, the Miami Dolphins Special Teams Driven by Chevy Volunteers and Broward County Parks and Recreation will team up to help prepare the new Miramar Pinelands Park for its grand opening.

The Miami Dolphins Special Teams Driven by Chevy Volunteers and Miami Zoo teamed up in 2011 and invited families to come out and help beautify the very popular Miami Zoo. They helped with painting, mulching, planting and of course they were allowed free entry to the zoo after their hard work.



April 21, 2012 - Special Teams Day of Service Special Teams Day of Service: In honor of our two years since inception, the Miami Dolphins Special Teams Driven by Chevy program hosted Feeding Children Everywhere which is a nonprofit company that brings meals to children all over the world. We will be assembled 25,000 meals on this day that were distributed to families in need of food in Florida and abroad.

April 22, 2012 - Special Teams Volunteer Appreciation Day: IWords could never express how thankful we are that you all take time out of your lives to come join our team and make a difference in our community. For that we are forever thankful, so one day out of the year we like to celebrate your commitment to our program known as our Special Teams Volunteer Appreciation Day. This is a celebration no one wants to miss, make sure to get out and volunteer beforehand so that you too can come and be part of a this night to remember.
