Members of the Miami Dolphins Women’s Organization (MDWO) shopped with 20 girls in need from Miami Dade County for back to school clothes on Sunday, August 18th. Each student had $300 to spend for back to school clothes courtesy of the Miami Dolphins Foundation and Sears. The children participating were from Paul Laurence Dunbar K-8 in Miami-Dade. The girls chosen all had a B average or higher.
“Just as we get back to football, we are kicking off our community events for the season with one of our back to school events,” said Diane Philbin. “It’s nice to reward the kids for their hard work and good grades. As the girls kick off their first day of school tomorrow, they will have new school clothes, backpacks and shoes. Hopefully, this will lead to increased self-confidence and determination to do well in school all year.”
