BRANDON MARSHALL TRANSCRIPT

(On the passing game on Monday night) – “We definitely threw it around a little bit and guys made plays. But watching film today and yesterday we left a lot out there. (I) wasn’t consistent enough and definitely need to improve in a lot of areas.”

(On the passing game carrying over from the preseason) – “Like I said, a lot of mental errors out there, myself included. So moving forward I think, we definitely need to focus on being more consistent, definitely some big plays out there, but to be a great offense you have to be consistent and score points.”

(On if he has followed Andre Johnson’s career) – “Absolutely, he’s the best in the league right now and we play the same position, so I’m chasing him. His career has been amazing, I know that he would like to be in the playoffs, I think we have similar paths as far as missing the playoffs, but as far as individually he is a guy that I admire and steal a lot of things from him.”

(On if there are advantages that they have over other receivers due to their size) – “Yeah there advantages and disadvantages. I would love to have number ten’s speed, Clyde Gates, but I am not blessed with that. So I have to use the abilities that God gave me, (like) my size and use them to my strength and it works sometimes but sometimes it doesn’t.”

(On the confidence following the performance on Monday night as an offense) – “Well I mean, every week is different. It’s Wednesday at 4:26 we are on to Houston right now, so totally different scheme, totally different group of guys out there that we are facing. Hopefully we can build off the things that we did well and didn’t do well Monday Night. So we are on to Houston now and look forward to the challenge.”

(On if it feels good that the fans like the way the offense performed) – “If we didn’t do well they wouldn’t be cheering for us now, so we understand that, it’s a week by week thing. We have some great fans. Fans that are loyal and we appreciate that support, but it’s a week to week thing.”

(On Chad Henne’s scrambling ability) – “I like it, as long as he doesn’t get hit.” (on people calling Henne Michael Vick) – Laughing “Yeah the white Vick (laughter). As long as he doesn’t get hit and he continues to do that because we need that. It definitely helps us out, as long as he gets down early enough we’ll take it.”

(On having Reggie Bush and if he is a distraction for the defense and does it create opportunities for the wide receivers) - “Well it’s a distraction for me, forget the defense, I have been admiring his game for years now. I catch myself out there instead of blocking watching the play when I need to catch a block. Its’ distracting for me too.”

(On what he has seen from the Houston defense so far) – “Fast. Fast up front, big up front. Very athletic. In the back end they play as one. Its early on in the season but they have some guys over there that can make plays. We definitely have to compete over there play in and play out.”

(On how much he takes away from Week One) – “Like I said earlier, that’s the past. It’s a week by week thing. Sometimes it’s a shot glass and sometimes it’s a wheel barrel. Monday night was a wheel barrel for us, but this week might be a shot glass, so whatever we need to do to win.”

(On where the wheel barrel reference came from) – “Tony Sparano, I got a whole notebook. Every time he says something great, I have a whole notebook. One day I want to publish a book of all his quotes. You all think I’m playing, I have my book here, so every time he says something, because I think he is a wise mind, I just write it down. That’s one of those things he told me, I think after each time you hear. Last year, he was like ‘hey, sometimes it’s a shot glass and sometimes a wheel barrel’, I’m like what are you talking about right now. He was like, sometimes you’ll have ten catches sometimes you’ll have two. I understand that more this year than I did last year. I was a little pissed last year when it was a shot glass, but sometimes those shot glasses are just as effective.”

(On if he is familiar with Coach Sparano’s heaven or hell comment) – “Yeah I didn’t write that one down, but I understand what he is saying. I mean me as a Christian, you know I understand what heaven and hell is, but hey guys understand it. He is our leader and he gets us going.”

(On if he has a favorite) – “My favorite? The shot glass. That’s my favorite because I can identify with that every day.”
