Community Service Academy Students Work With The Rookies

Posted Jul 6, 2016

Thirty high school students can earn 40 hours of community service in just one week through the Community Service Academy.

The Community Service Academy presented by AARP Foundation is the opportunity for 30 high school students to earn 40 hours of community service in just one week.

The highlights of this week of community service (June 20-24) included a planting a garden with Dolphins rookie class through the nonprofit “Health in the Hood.” These students weathered the heat to clean up the sands at Virginia Key Beach, and the parks at Miramar Pineland Park and the waters at Pelican Harbor Marina. To hide from the sun, our high school student volunteers made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for distribution at the Miami Rescue Mission, prepared meals at Boca Helping Hands and sorted food at Feeding South Florida.

The Miami Dolphins Special Teams Powered by AARP Foundation is a year round volunteer program. Please visit to participate in an upcoming volunteer event.
