The Miami Dolphins linebacker has established a business, Butler’s Grooming for Men that appeals to men that share his passion for looking good. He and co-owner Chris Butler held a soft opening for their second location inside Saks Fifth Avenue at The Summit in Birmingham, Alabama earlier this month and hope to open more across the nation.
“This is something I started three years ago and we have grown it to a point now where we have partnered with a Fortune 500 company and we’re trying to make some things happen,” said Dansby, a Birmingham native who is entering his ninth season in the NFL. “High expectations isn’t the word. Just to have a grand opening inside of Sacks is an epic moment in itself, to have that partnership.”
Only men can visit the upscale salon, which offers shampoo and conditioning treatments, scalp massages, manicures, pedicures and shoe shines. It’s the perfect place for husbands to escape inside Saks while their wives are shopping as the 1,700-square-foot space also has a bar, pool table and flat-screen televisions.
The actual grand opening is set for July 15th and will double as a fundraiser for the Pediatric Transplant Unit at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Dansby has a pretty simple sales pitch he came up with for potential customers.
“We want you to look good,” he said. “If you look good you’re going to feel good and then you’re going to be able perform well no matter what profession you’re in. If you’re a regular Joe Blow and you want to look good and look professional, come on in.”
Once Butler’s Grooming for Men makes its way further south to this neck of woods, Dansby’s teammates on the Dolphins will no doubt be among the first customers.
