Day 19 Notebook: Quiet Last Day Of Training Camp; Other Notes

Posted Aug 15, 2012

Time has certainly flown for the Miami Dolphins and their fans, as training camp officially came to an end with today's last open practice. Read more news and notes below.

##A still wind and a bright sun greeted those die hards that got up early to get their last look at the team in camp mode. They got an up close look with drills being run on the near field and saw Reggie Bush show off his moves in light 11-on-11 drills early on.

##With tomorrow being a travel day, things were toned down from an intensity standpoint so as to avoid any injuries before Friday night's preseason game at the Carolina Panthers. Things were so quiet you could hear birds chirping.

##Vincent Agnew had an easy interception go right through his hands after Clyde Gates slipped to the ground on a slant. Matt Moore breathed a sigh of relief.

##It's starting to sound like a broken record, but Davone Bess is Mr. Reliable no matter who is throwing him the ball. Both Moore and Ryan Tannehill zipped nice mid-range passes to him, and then later on he made a diving one-handed catch near the left sideline.

##Safety Reshad Jones was the defensive star of the day, intercepting three passes. His last interception was the most impressive, as he timed his jump on the ball perfectly and stepped in front of tight end Anthony Fasano near the goal line to pick off a Tannehill pass.

##Tannehill completed back-to-back perfectly located passes on opposite corners of the field, hitting Clyde Gates in stride in the left corner of the end zone behind Nolan Carroll and then coming right back to B.J. Cunningham in the right corner.

##Rishard Matthews was getting a lot of work on punt returning and kick returning drills, hoping to keep his momentum going from last week’s performance in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay. In that game, Matthews had kick returns of 45 and 28 yards.

##Linebacker Gary Guyton conducted a live chat after practice with some fan websites. He fielded questions for 20 minutes with Tristin Jones of the Finsiders, who served as the host and live video was streamed online. In addition to football questions, Guyton talked about the Dolphins Cycling Challenge along with the DCC’s Ann Hake. Both of his parents are cancer survivors.
