Fins players and wives participate in annual Walk in My Shoes event.

Lauren Book, founder of Lauren’s Kids, led the way of what looked like a sea of blue into Sun Life Stadium on Sunday as part her annual Walk in My Shoes event.

Starting in Key West and concluding in Tallahassee, the 1,500-mile statewide journey not only raises awareness for sexual abuse victims, but also provides Book a platform to work as an advocate for change in Florida law regarding those victims.

Proudly donning their event T-shirts, supporters, friends and family marched right into the stadium to partner with Miami Dolphins players, including Nate Garner, Dan Carpenter, Brandon Fields and Julian Posey, as well as Women’s Organization members, including Diane Philbin and Kaela Carpenter, to work on welcome packages to donate to Kristi House, a Miami-Dade child advocacy center.

Not wasting any time, an assembly line formed and all participants began filling packages with items such as teddy bears and books provided by the Miami Dolphins Foundation. After the bags were filled, participants set off again on their journey to the state capitol.
