The Miami Dolphins made an appearance at Royal Palm Elementary in Lauderhill for a Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC), and approximately 500 children participated in the camp, which consisted of a myriad of football drills, cheerleader routines and the “Dol-Fit” message.
The Dolphins Youth Programs Department has a mission to educate the children of South Florida on the importance of making positive choices, eating right, staying physically fit and taking school serious. To accomplish that mission, the team travels to schools all around the tri-county area to spread the message.

Royal Palm Elementary was very receptive to that “Dol-Fit” message and did an excellent job participating in the event.
“It was truly a pleasure visiting Royal Palm Elementary today. Everyone from the faculty, staff, students and volunteers were extremely helpful, organized and attentive,” Miami Dolphins Youth Programs Manager Troy Drayton said. “I can’t say enough good things about this school and I’d be happy to return here.”
The Junior Training Camp began with Drayton teaching the kids the principles of being “Dol-Fit,” and how that can positively impact their futures.
Afterwards, the JTC began, which consisted of six interactive football drills such as offensive and defensive drills featuring hurdles, knock-away dummies, ladders and halfback pads just like the Miami Dolphins players.
It was a very successful camp and a very positive day for everyone involved.
“I’m really happy we had the chance to hang out at Royal Palm Elementary today, and I’m glad we were all able to have a good time,” Drayton said.
