Dolphins Make Roster Moves

Dolphins Sign Amaya and Rivera.

The Miami Dolphins signed safety Jonathon Amaya and linebacker Mike Rivera and waived tackle Ray Feinga and safety Troy Nolan.

The 6-2, 205-pound Amaya rejoins Miami after spending the 2011 season with the New Orleans Saints after being traded for running back Reggie Bush on July 28, 2011. He appeared in all 16 regular season games and made nine special teams tackles and a forced fumble, and added ten defensive tackles (five solo) for the Saints in 2011. Amaya played in 10 games for Miami during his rookie campaign and ranked first on Dolphins with 15 special teams tackles after being signed off the teams practice squad on October 30, 2010. He was originally signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted rookie free agent on April 30, 2010. A four-year letterman at the University of Nevada (2006-09) he recorded 236 tackles, seven interceptions and two forced fumbles for the Wolf Pack. Full name is Jonathon Daniel Amaya, born November 25, 1988, in Glendora, CA.

The 6-2, 255-pound rejoins Miami after spending time with the New England Patriots and seeing action in two games of the 2012 season. Rivera was signed by the Dolphins off the Green Bay Packers practice squad on December 28, 2010 and was with the team until his release on August 27, 2011 prior to the start of the 2011 NFL regular season. Originally signed as an undrafted college free agent by the Chicago Bears on April 26, 2009 he was with the team during the preseason before being released on September 5, 2009. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans and spent the entire 2009 season on their practice squad, but was released on August 31, 2010 during training camp. A three-year starter at Kansas, Rivera appeared in 51 games with 36 starts and finished his college career with 300 tackles, including 26 for loss and 6.5 sacks. Full name is Mike Anthony Rivera, born on January 10, 1986, in Shawnee Mission, KS.
