Trick or treating, pumpkin carving and costume parties are just some of the exciting things that go hand in hand with Halloween. While all of those activities are highly anticipated by kids and adults alike, one of the most anticipated parts of the holiday? Costume shopping!

A school bus packed full of 20 excited students from Santa Clara Elementary pulled up to Party City in Davie and eagerly filed inside where they were paired up with Miami Dolphins players, cheerleaders, and members of the Miami Dolphins Women’s Organization.

Dolphins players in attendance included Jared Odrick, Nate Garner, Koa Misi, Brandon Fields, Josh Kaddu, John Denney, Charles Clay, Paul Soliai, Al Lapuaho, and Isaako Aaitui.

Once the pairings were done, each party of two scurried throughout the store and enthusiastically sought out the perfect Halloween costume of their choice. The students, who were provided with the costume shopping spree by the Miami Dolphins Foundation were all selected for great attendance, improved grades, and maintaining a good academic standing. Many of these students are economically disadvantaged and were shopping for Halloween costumes for the first time. Students also received food courtesy of Papa John’s Pizza.

“It’s awesome to be able to come here and pick out costumes for kids who might not have the opportunity to do so otherwise," Odrick said. "It’s been fun so far, and we are staying in character, which I am appreciating one hundred percent! It’s been a great opportunity (for us) and something that we’ve done over the past couple of years and I take part in it every year.”
