Dolphins Sign Mahaffey; Waive Moye

The Miami Dolphins have signed fullback Ryan Mahaffey and waived wide receiver Derek Moye.

The 6-2, 255-pound Mahaffey joins the Dolphins after spending time during the 2011 season with the Indianapolis Colts. Mahaffey joined the Colts after being signed off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad on November 16, 2011. He competed in five contests and caught one pass for 5 yards. Mahaffey played collegiately at Northern Iowa where he appeared in 51 games with 43 coming in a starting role. A versatile player, he saw action at both tight end and fullback and recorded 28 receptions for 251 yards and 6 touchdowns. Born November 28, 1987, Mahaffey Attended Grinnell High School in Grinnell, Iowa, where he was named first-team All-State by the Des Moines Register and third-team All-State by the Iowa Newspaper Association.
