Dolphins Spend A Day At Sea

Posted Nov 22, 2013

Dolphins players help students battle Barnacle Bill to recover their treasure.

“Arrr!” was the sound being shouted by 20 students who were getting ready to get aboard a pirate ship for an adventure out at sea with the Miami Dolphins at Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.

Dressed in their bandanas, rocking their eye patches, and proudly waving their swords, the students were being treated to a day with Miami Dolphins players and members of the MDWO as part of the Dolphins ongoing military appreciation initiative.

The students, from Dr. Rolando Espinosa K-8, were chosen to participate in the day’s event based on each student having a parent who is currently serving in the US military.

Once out at sea, Dolphins players Brent Grimes, Tyson Clabo, Jason Trusnik, John Denney, and Dallas Thomas assisted in helping the students battle Barnacle Bill to recover their treasure! The player’s who were joined by their children also participated in the fun and games by singing pirate songs and even playing limbo!

“These kids' parents are in the military, so for us to come out here and just support them, with their parents out there supporting us, and serving our country, so anything we can do for their families and make their day,” Trusnik said.

The day concluded with the defeat of Barnacle Bill, treasure to take home, and smiles on everyone’s faces.
