Dolphins Spend Day At Biltmore School for Gatorade JTC

Posted Mar 18, 2014

Students were taught first-hand how to do a variety of football drills that emphasize the fundamentals of the game, such as running, throwing and catching the ball.

The Dolphins spent the day at The Biltmore School in Coral Gables to deliver a message and put on a Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC) for the students, who participated in six interactive football drills.

Former Miami Dolphin player and current Manager of Youth Programs Troy Drayton led the charge, giving the students an inspiring speech about the “Dol-Fit” message, which stresses the importance of education, physical fitness and making positive choices.

Students were then taught first-hand how to do a variety of football drills that emphasize the fundamentals of the game, such as running, throwing and catching the ball.

“To have the Miami Dolphins and especially a former player here was huge for our school,” Principal Gina Romero said. “Having Troy Drayton speak to our kids this week was fantastic. It was the best way to end our school’s career week and lead us into our Field Day.”

Originally founded in 1926, the Biltmore School is the oldest operating preschool in Miami-Dade County. The staff members are actively involved in the “Project Zero” project sponsored by Harvard University that promotes creative thinking. It encourages students to be self-reliant and empowers them to think “outside the box”.

“I think the students, the faculty, the parents and the Dolphins all had an amazing time today at The Biltmore School,” Drayton said. “It was a great group of kids and they seemed very receptive to the message of being Dol-Fit and the importance of getting a good education.”

The Miami Dolphins Youth Programs’ vision is to prepare the next generation of leaders in staying physically active through the Junior Training Camps (JTC), Youth Football Clinics and Youth Football Camps.
