Dolphins Stop By Hochberg Prep For Gatorade Junior Training Camp

Posted Oct 2, 2013

Students enjoyed six football drills that included running under hurdles, running in between step overs and stand up dummy’s, and throwing and catching the ball.

The Miami Dolphins stayed close to home, stopping by Hochberg Preparatory School in Miami, for a Gatorade Junior Training Camp (JTC), and approximately 200 children participated. The event consisted of six interactive football drills, cheerleader routines and lessons about being “Dol-Fit.”

“Today our children learned how to be Dol-Fit. They learned the importance of staying active in their lives while having the time of their lives,” Hochberg Lower School Principal Jodi Snyder-Katz said. “They participated in different stations working on skills with our parent-volunteers and the amazing Dolphin organization.”

The JTC began with Dolphins Youth Programs Coordinator Troy Drayton addressing the students on the importance of eating right, staying physically active and making positive choices, all which are key elements of being a “Dol-Fit” kid.

After the message, the students enjoyed six football drills that included running under hurdles, running in between step overs and stand up dummy’s, and throwing and catching the ball.

“We really had a good time out there today. The Hochberg students, faculty, volunteers and staff were all very helpful and did a great job,” Drayton said. “I am glad we could make an impact on these children.”

The camp concluded with Drayton reiterating the “Dol-Fit” pledge and a performance from the cheerleaders.

“We sincerely appreciate the Dolphins for coming to Hochberg Prep today and creating a lifelong memory for our students,” Snyder-Katz said.

Hochberg Prep’s lower school serves nearly 215 students and practices its own health programs, including sports and boot camp classes.

The Miami Dolphins Youth Programs’ vision is to prepare the next generation of leaders in staying physically active through our Junior Training Camps, Youth Football Clinics and Youth Football Camps, while also emphasizing the significance of education and making positive choices.
