Dolphins Take To The High Seas With Camillus House Kids

Posted Mar 11, 2013

Reward for students with good grades was a pirate adventure.

Within a matter of minutes, nine Miami Dolphins players and the wife of Head Coach Joe Philbin, Diane, helped transform 20 underprivileged kids from Camillus House into pirates. This was just the precursor to the one-hour adventure they were about to go on in Fort Lauderdale.

For linebacker Koa Misi, who arrived early before the van carrying the kids arrived, he was thrilled to be a part of this event and to brighten the day of these children. It was a chance for him and his teammates – Randy Starks, Richard Marshall, Rishard Matthews, Josh Kaddu, Josh Samuda, Kheeston Randall, Julian Posey and Jeff Fuller – to show a different side.

“It’s always nice to be able to hang out with kids that are underprivileged like these kids are,” Misi said. “They’re living in this house right now and for them to be able to come out and hang out with us and get to do something like this puts a smile on their faces. It’s always nice to do that for kids that don’t have much and I’m glad to be here and be able to help out.”

This is the second time the Dolphins teamed up with Bluefoot Pirate Adventures out of the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale, and after the group survived the battle at sea complete with water cannons they returned to the docks for a healthy and hearty pirate’s feats courtesy of Duffy’s Sports Grill. All of this made for a memorable outing for not just the kids but also the players.
