Dolphins Throw Inaugural Membership Launch Party

Fun, games and rides were all part of Saturday’s unique event.

Sun Life Stadium was converted into a full-blown carnival Saturday at the Miami Dolphins’ Inaugural Membership Launch Party.

Season Ticket Members were treated to an exclusive event designed to show the organization’s appreciation for their loyalty and to get this core fan base even more excited about the upcoming season. There were actually two parties in one, with the first wave set up for those families with children taking place under sunny skies and the second one for Social, Finatic and Business Alliance members.

“This is the first event we’ve done like this,” said Jeremy Walls, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer. "We wanted to kick off the Dolphins membership program the right way. This year we’ve transitioned to Finatic, Social, Business Alliance and Family, and want our Members to see and feel that their membership is going to be different this season. The big difference is that now Members are going to be invited to free events 12 months a year as part of their membership. Most of these events will be in the off-season, include food & beverage, and players/alumni. This event set the tone for membership moving forward.”

Based on the turnout and initial feedback yesterday, it’s hard to imagine that message not being well received. According to Walls, anywhere from 7-8,000 people took over the field inside the stadium over the course of about seven hours and there was an abundance of smiles and laughter to be observed.

Current and former Dolphins players were on hand, along with the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders to sign autographs and pose for pictures – and to get in touch with their own inner child on the carnival rides and with the carnival games that were set up. A variety of food was available to satisfy the simplest of tastes to the more sophisticated, from popcorn, pretzels, corn dogs and snow cones to garden salad wraps, Asian mixed grill and Everglades BBQ.

There was a grand stage set up for a magician to entertain the little ones and for some dancing and singing competitions during the day, and then a live band took over in the evening, along with a cheerleader dance show. Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel was there to welcome the crowd on the stage and to meet and greet as many as he could.

“Even during the evening event with the live band and the night club atmosphere, people were still riding the carnival rides,” Walls said. “People couldn’t believe we did an event like this and all of the feedback was positive. I think people are starting to understand that this membership is not just about their tickets, it’s about 12 months a year getting to come to events like this. So the key is it’s starting to feel like more than tickets, it’s starting to feel a lot more like part of the team as a member 12 months a year and not just during the football season.”

Charles Clay, Philip Wheeler, Ryan Spadola, Jason Trusnik and Isaako Aaitui were among the current players that the members got to interact with, along with alumni like Oronde Gadsden, Shawn Wooden, Louis Oliver and Troy Stradford. Clay and Spadola took to social media to share their excitement from the day with Instagram photos and tweets on Twitter, as did Garfinkel.

Family members can look forward to a movie night as the next event on the agenda and there is an autograph session upcoming for the Finatic members, with plenty more on tap for the social and business members.
