More Mini Camp Day Two Content
New Dolphins linebacker
It was a week ago that Ellerbe got to experience something that’s a dream of every NFL player: visiting the White House as a Super Bowl champion. Not surprisingly, Ellerbe’s teammates wanted to find out what the experience was like.
“They’ve been asking me about it every day since then,” Ellerbe said after Wednesday’s minicamp practice. “I told them we’ve got to get there. We’ve just got to get there. We’ve just got to work hard out here to get there because it’s an awesome feeling.”
Ellerbe, who signed with the Dolphins as a free agent in March after four seasons with Baltimore, joined his former Ravens teammates for the trip to the White House last Wednesday.
“It was awesome,” Ellerbe said. “It wasn’t my first time going to the White House, but it was my first time meeting the President. It was a great feeling. We got to shake his hand and he told us, congratulations. He was actually cracking jokes the whole time, so he was a pretty down-to-earth dude.”
Two days after the visit to the White House, Ellerbe and his teammates received their Super Bowl rings. While Ellerbe has shared his thoughts on the White House experience, he has yet to show his new teammates his Super Bowl ring. It’s sitting right now in a safe back home in North Carolina.
Said Ellerbe: “I’m going to bring it out when the time is right.”
