Ellerbe: We've Got Some Big Guys Up Front

Posted Jul 27, 2013

Dannell Ellerbe answers questions from reporters about the ability of himself and Philip Wheeler to rush the passer and add be playmakers at the linebacker position in 2013. Also, Ellerbe discuss the communication between the two new linebacker.

(On the defensive line being good at stopping the run) – “We’ve got some big guys up front, and when you’ve got guys like that, that can keep the lineman off you, and let you play your game that’s awesome. That’s all you can ask for.”

(On if any veteran Dolphin’s players have pulled him under their wing) – “No, we are all kind of grouping together trying to lead this thing together. There is no one man higher than the other guy, and that’s another thing that I like about this defense.”

(On what he has to do to get on the same page as Phillip Wheeler) – “Just do our job. We (are constantly communicating) about new ways to run different blitzes. We are both learning, so we’re going to need each other to get through this thing.’

(On if he knew Phillip Wheeler before, and if they need to be friends ) – “He played at Georgia Tech and I played at Georgia, so I’ve seen a lot of him in college. I’ve seen him throughout my years in the league, we played him when he was in Indianapolis and when he was with the Raiders, so I know the type of player that he is and he’s going to give 110%. That’s all we ask for.

(On if Georgia Tech v. Georgia causes any rifts) – “No, we’re in the league now, and he knows he never beat us, so we’re alright.”
