Get To Know: Daniel Davie

Getting to know new Dolphins cornerback Daniel Davie, who was among 12 players recently signed to reserve/futures contracts.

• He is listed at 6 feet 1, 190 pounds.

•  Davie was born Aug. 4, 1993 and his hometown is Beatrice, Neb.

• Davie was out of football in 2016 after being waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Aug. 28.

• The Buccaneers claimed Davie off waivers from the Indianapolis Colts, who released him July 27.

• Davie signed with the Colts as a rookie free agent after going undrafted in 2016 out of Nebraska.

• At one of the NFL regional combines in 2016, Davie was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.45 seconds and had a 38-inch vertical leap.

• After redshirting in 2011, Davie spent five seasons at Nebraska and played 42 games, with 18 starts.

• Davie’s best season came in 2014 as a junior when he started all 13 games and had 41 tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions and five pass breakups.

• Davie was limited to six games as a senior because of groin and hand injuries.

• Davie wore number 23 at Nebraska.

• In 2015, Davie was named to the Brook Berringer and Tom Osborne Citizenship Teams for his community outreach work after he volunteered his time with Make-a-Wish, Uplifting Athletes, Mad Dads, the Husker Hotline, and local team school and hospital visits.

• Davie played running back, defensive back and was a special teams standout at Beatrice High School. He had a 265-yard rushing performance in the state playoffs as a senior.

• Davie won the all-class gold in both the 100 and 200 meters at the 2010 Nebraska state track meet.
