I Said It: Victory Monday

Posted Oct 23, 2017

Head Coach Adam Gase, tight end Anthony Fasano, wide receiver Kenny Stills, tackle Ja’Wuan James, tackle Jesse Davis and guard Isaac Asiata were among those who spoke to the media at the Baptist Health Training Facility at Nova Southeastern University on Monday.

Here were some of the comments that stood out, along with some perspective:

— Adam Gase has a good idea how Cameron Wake has managed to remain effective at the age of 35.

“We’ve just got to keep getting better. The thing is we do have good players and we do have guys that can get open and they can win one-on-one matchups, and we’ve got guys that can get them the ball.”
— Adam Gase has cut down on the offense, but still sees the potential for consistent success.

“There’s always some (nerves), but I try not to think too much about it.”
— Jesse Davis talked about the challenge of coming into the game because of an injury.

“It’s fun. The more you can do, the more I can stay in the league doing it.” — Jesse Davis already has lined up at left guard, right tackle and left tackle this season.

“Catching passes is nice. It gets some attention, but I’m good with either one as long as we win.”
— Anthony Fasano doesn’t really have a preference on blocking or catching passes from his tight end position.

— Kenny Stills had his most productive game of the season Sunday after applying face paint on his face at the urging of rookie Isaac Asiata.

“That’s kind of my thing and for him to embrace it makes me happy. I was excited about that. A lot of people see it at first and they think it’s a joke and you look stupid. I’m glad that he was able to wear it proudly.”
— Isaac Asiata wore face paint during his time at the University of Utah and convinced Kenny Stills to do it Sunday.

“They just have two different personalities, but I think they’re both great quarterbacks in their own rights.”
— Ja’Wuan James explained the differences between Jay Cutler and Matt Moore.

“We’re going to shorten things up this week and I feel like Coach is going to take care of us this week, but it’s our job as professionals to get ready to perform on Thursday.”
— Ja’Wuan James understands the challenges of playing in a Thursday night game.

— Kenny Stills described Matt Moore’s personality.

“Jesse, the thing about him, he never complains. He’s just happy to be playing ball no matter where he’s at.”
— Ja’Wuan James appreciates the role that backup offensive lineman Jesse Davis plays for the Dolphins.
