Jerry: We Are Going To Be Alright Up Front

Posted Jul 25, 2013

John Jerry talks with the media about his fitness level and the state of the offensive line after the first four practices of training camp. Watch for Jerry's thoughts on playing alongside Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito on the inside of the team's offensive line.

(On the process of taking reps from first team to third team) – “It’s really easy. Obviously last year seeing Hard Knocks, I did that a lot last year. It (isn’t anything) new.”

(On how he feels from a conditioning standpoint from this training camp to the year before) – “It’s night and day. It’s unbelievable.”

(On how he feels about the depth on the offensive line) – “We are going to be alright up front. We have five preseason games, so that will benefit a lot of guys.”

(On if he saw the signing of Lance Louis as a challenge to him) – “I’m a competitor. Lance is a competitor. We are going to compete. We are going to help each other. We are going to make each other better”

(On if you are in the mindset entering camp that there is no way Louis is taking his job) – “You know, I think he has that mindset, and I’ve got that mindset. At the same time, we are just trying to get better.”

(On what he thinks about the move of Jonathan Martin to left tackle) – “(Martin) is going to be fine. He is going to have to come out and bust his butt every day. He’s going to do a great job for us.”

(On what he has seen from Tyson Clabo) – “You definitely know he is a veteran. He sees things before I even see it, so he makes it a lot easier on me.”

(On if Tyson Clabo has worked well so far because of his experience) – “No question. He is a great guy. He’s a leader already. He’s a guy we highly respect in our room.”
