Jones: I Can Be A Guy Who Gets The Job Done

Posted Apr 27, 2013

Miami's seventh round selection, Don Jones, talks about his versatility on the field.

(On his thoughts about being drafted by the Dolphins) – “I’m very excited about the opportunity. While I was down there on the visit, I loved the coaching staff down there and all of the facilities and stuff around there. I think that will be a great place for me to start my career with the great coaching staff that they have.”

(On the Dolphins attending his pro day and what he thinks impressed them) – “I think I showed them how explosive I can be in my broad jumps and then my bench press reps. I think I showed them I can be a guy who can go out there and get the job done.”

(On if he thinks he’ll play cornerback or safety or both in Miami) – “I think I’ll probably play a little bit of both down there, but most likely corner.”

(On whether he can play inside and outside) – “I would probably be a nickel type corner down there.”

(On whether he played some running back at Arkansas State) – “I played running back my redshirt freshman year, but I had to leave due to academic reasons. So I left there and went to junior college and then at junior college I moved to defensive back.”

(On what it was like for him having to go to junior college and then work his way back) – “I think it was most definitely a great learning experience for me. I think it gave me more time to mature to become the man and the player that I am now.”

(On whether he knew Kelcie McCray in college) – “Yes sir, we played together last year.”
