Neptune, NJ - On Monday, May 14, 2012 Miami Dolphins linebacker Jamaal Westerman hosted a charity Golf Outing benefiting The Ashley Lauren Foundation. The event took place at Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune, NJ.

The Ashley Lauren Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to provide hope and help for NJ children and their families when facing pediatric cancer. They provide invaluable services for these families including Financial & Material Assistance, Emotional Support, Parties and Outings for the Children, Birthday and Holiday Gifts for the Children and their “Making Dreams Come True” Program.

“I’ve always tried to stay active in the community and offer support whenever possible, said Westerman. I saw an opportunity with this golf outing to have a bigger impact on children and families battling cancer. I’m honored to work with The Ashley Lauren Foundation to raise funds and awareness for their valuable mission.”

The outing, which was presented by Lunar Sports Group, featured stars from around the NFL including some of Westerman’s former teammates from the New York Jets and former teammates at Rutgers currently playing in the NFL.

The event began with a Lunch followed by a shotgun scramble. The golfing was followed by a cocktail hour and an awards dinner, including a live auction and raffle prizes.

About The Ashley Lauren Foundation Unlike national organizations that fund research, The Ashley Lauren Foundation is an independent, New Jersey-based non-profit organization, working hands-on with each family. They depend on the support of the community-at-large in order to provide immediate relief for the daily burdens thrust upon those who are battling pediatric cancer. The Ashley Lauren Foundation ensures that young adults ages 18-21 are provided the same services afforded the youngest patient—to protect these patients from slipping through the cracks due to their age.

The goal of The Ashley Lauren Foundation is to ease the journey when pediatric cancer is diagnosed by providing Direct Financial Assistance (household services lost in a crisis situation, bills and medications not paid through medical insurance, traveling expenses to and from hospitals, funeral expenses, etc.); Material Assistance (food, clothing, household items); Emotional Support (for the entire family); Support groups (to form a sense of community through opportunities to meet others who are also struggling with pediatric cancer); Outings and Parties for the Children; Advocacy; “Making Dreams Come True” Program; Birthday Birthday and Holiday Gifts for the Children and anything else that is needed to make their lives easier.
