Mike Pouncey Attends Guadalupe Center’s “Taste of China”

Posted Jan 19, 2012

Even during the off-season, Miami Dolphins players give back to the community. Mike Pouncey attended the “Taste of China” event benefitting the Guadalupe Center in Immokalee.

Over 300 guests attended the event and was the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization. Pouncey plans to continue to support Southwest Florida charities after learning of the Guadalupe Center through his financial advisers.

“We sponsored a couple games for the guys to come to, and gave away tickets,” Pouncey said. “I love giving back to kids. I remember growing up in their shoes always wanting somebody to look up to.”

The Guadalupe Center of Immokalee, which provides tutoring for elementary school children while also providing scholarship assistance for high school students, was the recipient of a $50,000 grant this past September through the Sun Life Rising Star Awards grant program. Mariela Vega, a high school Senior and tutor at the center, was awarded a $5,000 scholarship for college.
