Miller: I Want To Get Better As A Player

Posted Aug 25, 2013

Running back Lamar Miller talks about his exciting 20-yard run at the start of the game and what he's been doing to prepare for a large role in 2013.

(On whether he won the starting job) – “I don’t want to say I won, I was just trying to do anything I could to help the team win and move the chains. I was out here competing. I just want to get better as a player.”

(On where he has grown this offseason) – “I worked on my overall game. I worked on catching the ball, trying to protect Ryan Tannehill, and always trying to run the ball hard.”

(On whether the offensive scheme suits his running style) – “It helps. I like to run in between the tackles. I’ve been doing the outside scheme in college, so I’m used to reading my keys. It helped a lot.”

(On what he thinks he needs to improve on) – “Everything. Just continuing to run hard, my blocking and catching the ball out of the backfield. Everything.”

(On how much he’s worked on his blocking in the offseason) – “I think a lot. Coach has been working on that every day, which makes us better. We do pass protection every day, so I’ve been taking it very serious and I’m better at it.”

(On his 20 yard run in the first quarter) – “The offensive line did a great job opening up the holes. I was just following Mike Pouncey. I knew he was going to do his assignment, so I just went off of the offensive lineman.”
