More Than 80 Boats Registered for 2013 FinsWeekend

Signature fund-raising event has raised over $3 million for local charities.

Over 80 boats have registered with less than two weeks away for FinsWeekend, the team’s largest annual event featuring current players, alumni, coaches and cheerleaders, on May 16-18, 2013. The three-day extravaganza features an exciting weekend of golf, fishing and celebrities. All proceeds from FinsWeekend benefit the Miami Dolphins Foundation. The event has raised more than $3 million for local charities.

The festivities begin on Thursday, May 16, with the Celebrity Draw Party presented by Sun Life Financial at Turnberry Isle. The party will include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and interactive games such as putting, chipping, pitch shot and sand shot for unique prizes. On Friday, May 17, Dolphins players and alumni hit the green at Turnberry Isle’s award-winning golf course in Aventura for the FinsWeekend Golf Tournament sponsored by Waste Management. Players will tee-off with a shotgun start followed by a luncheon presented by Doctors Hospital to announce the winners.

The following morning, on Saturday, May 18, amateur and professional anglers will meet at the Miami Beach Marina for the Miami Dolphins Foundation Fishing Tournament Presented by the South Florida Chevy Dealers. Participants will enjoy a day of offshore fishing accompanied by Dolphins players and alumni. In the afternoon, all fishing participants will get together for the “Hooters” Weigh-in” which is free and open to the public starting at 4 p.m. The first place finisher will receive a flight on the team charter to a Dolphins road game. That evening, attendees will gather for the Scott Financial/HMY Yacht Sales awards ceremony to find out who walked away with the biggest catch and a live auction including a 21 Foot Contender. Later that evening, the popular Hook & Tackle Captain’s Party will take place at the Miami Beach Marina, which will feature a silent auction and entertainment.
