Veteran wide receiver among six inactives.

CINCINNATI – Jabar Gaffney’s debut in a Dolphins uniform is on hold for at least one week, as the veteran wide receiver was declared inactive for today’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Quarterback Pat Devlin, cornerback Richard Marshall (back), offensive tackle Will Yeatman, rookie tight end Michael Egnew and rookie wide receiver Rishard Matthews joined Gaffney on the inactive list. Miami traveled with just 52 players, one short of the regulation 53. Nolan Carroll will start at cornerback in place of Marshall and the Dolphins are introducing the entire team.

Cincinnati put former Dolphins cornerback Jason Allen, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, rookie safety George Iloka, defensive tackle Brandon Thompson, wide receivers Marvin Jones and Ryan Whalen and tight end Richard Quinn on the inactive list. Robert Geathers is starting in place of Carlos Dunlap at left defensive end, Nate Clements is moving from left cornerback to strong safety in place of Taylor Mays and Terence Newman is starting at left cornerback. The Bengals are introducing their defense.

## Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle thought he’d be able to fit right in again in the cooler Ohio temperatures by stepping onto the field in shorts. After all, he spent 11 seasons on the Bengals’ coaching staff, but nine months in the warm South Florida sun already had its effect as he walked back into the tunnel uttering the words, “It’s cold.”
