PREGAME NOTES: Big Stable Of Running Backs For Miami

Posted Sep 23, 2012

Healthier offense for Miami could be key

Neither team is totally at full strength for this afternoon’s AFC East showdown, but Dolphins rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill will have more of his offensive weapons at his disposal than his counterpart.

Wide receiver Anthony Armstrong returns to the field after being inactive last week and he switches places with fellow wide receiver Marlon Moore, who is out with a hamstring injury. He is joined on the inactive list by defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (knee), quarterback Pat Devlin, rookie tight end Michael Egnew, offensive tackles Will Yeatman and Ray Feinga and wide receiver Rishard Matthews.

That means Miami is going run heavy with five active running backs in Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas, Lamar Miller, Jorvorskie Lane and Marcus Thigpen.

The Jets do have cornerback Darrelle Revis back but are without tight end Dustin Keller (hamstring), offensive tackle Dennis Landolt and fullback John Conner (knee) due to injury. They are joined on the inactive list by quarterback Greg McElroy, defensive lineman Damon Harrison, guard Caleb Schlauderaff and defensive back Donnie Fletcher.

There were no lineup changes for the Dolphins but for the Jets, Garrett McIntyre gets the start at outside linebacker, Jeff Cumberland starts at tight end in place of Keller and Konrad Reuland is starting at fullback in place of Conner.

Today’s honorary captains for the Dolphins are Hall-of-Fame quarterback Bob Griese, former Dolphins wide receiver Mark Duper and former Dolphins linebacker A.J. Duhe.
