PREGAME NOTES: Ellerbe Back In The Lineup; Other Notes

Posted Oct 27, 2013

Starting middle linebacker returns from shoulder injury.

Whenever the Miami Dolphins face the New England Patriots and three-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady they like to make sure they are at their healthiest on defense. Today they will be as starting middle linebacker Dannell Ellerbe returns to the lineup after missing last week’s game against Buffalo with a shoulder injury. Also of note, newly acquired veteran offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie also is active after showing up on the injury report with a knee injury.

So with Ellerbe and two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake strong enough to start again, Miami’s inactives for this game did not have any real surprises. Third-string quarterback Pat Devlin is joined by rookie cornerbacks Jamar Taylor and Will Davis, rookie running back Mike Gillislee, rookie guard Dallas Thomas, guard Danny Watkins and offensive tackle Will Yeatman.

For the Patriots, veteran cornerback Aquib Talib, wide receiver Josh Boyce, running back Leon Washington, defensive tackle Tommy Kelly, guard/center Chris Barker, linebacker Steve Beauharnais and defensive lineman Jake Bequette are inactive.

Center Mike Pouncey, linebacker Koa Misi and long snapper are Miami’s team captains and will handle the coin toss at midfield.
