Starting safety fights through groin injury to line up against Pats.

Early in the week things looked dire for Miami Dolphins starting safety Reshad Jones as he was unable to practice on Tuesday due to a groin injury. But he worked hard on his rehab and is active today and will start against the New England Patriots.

Third-string quarterback Pat Devlin, rookie cornerback Jamar Taylor, newly acquired cornerback Justin Rogers, safety D.J. Campbell, guard Danny Watkins, guard David Arkin and rookie defensive tackle A.J. Francis are inactive.

For the Patriots, offensive lineman Chris Barker, linebacker Steve Beauharnais, rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson, defensive lineman Michael Buchanan, defensive lineman Jake Beguette, wide receiver Kembrell Thompkins and tight end D.J. Williams are inactive.


Left tackle Bryant McKinnie, defensive end Cameron Wake and long snapper John Denney are serving as team captains today and will head to midfield for the coin toss. … There are four honorary captains for the Dolphins – Dick Anderson, Mark Duper, Nat Moore and John Offerdahl – and they will accompany the captains to midfield. … Fans saw a new look on the field today as both end zones are painted aqua and have the NFL shield in one corner for the first time and the Dolphins logo at midfield has been expanded. … Miami native Cash Money and Universal Republic recording artist Sarah Lenore are performing the national anthem and the Patrick Air Force Base Honor Guard is presenting the colors. … The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders are doing a Home for the Holidays halftime performance and a pregame performance.
