PREGAME NOTES: Thomas And Patterson Both Active; Other Notes

Posted Dec 8, 2013

Dolphins running back and starting cornerback return to health.

Two weeks after suffering what looked like a devastating ankle injury, Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas is back in action today against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Veteran cornerback Dimitri Patterson also is back in the lineup after missing the last two games with a groin injury that has been nagging him all season. But Nolan Carroll will get his eighth start of the season so that Patterson can be eased into the game.

Rookie running back Mike Gillislee, who made his NFL debut last week at the New York Jets, is active again and will be available to help spell Thomas if needed.

Third-string quarterback Pat Devlin, rookie cornerbacks Jamar Taylor and Will Davis, safety D.J. Campbell, guard Danny Watkins, offensive lineman David Arkin and rookie defensive tackle A.J. Francis are all inactive for Miami.

For the Steelers, third-string quarterback Landry Jones, wide receiver Derek Moye, left tackle Kelvin Beachum, cornerback Isaiah Green, inside linebacker Klon Wilson, defensive end Brett Keisel and center/guard David Snow are inactive.

The Dolphins are wearing their aqua pants for the first time this season, which will be a different look on the road as part of their new uniforms. … Wide receiver Mike Wallace has been chosen as one of Miami’s three team captains this afternoon, so he will head to midfield with linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Jason Trusnik for the coin toss against his former team. Wallace spent his first four seasons in Pittsburgh. … Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will see snow on a football field for the first time in his football career today.
