PREGAME NOTES: Wake To Line Up Against Ravens; Other Notes

Posted Oct 6, 2013

Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end back in action after one week absence.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco needs to keep his head on a swivel today in passing situations because the Miami Dolphins’ two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake is back in the lineup.

Wake showed enough to the coaches and medical staff all week and during pregame warm-ups to convince them that he is healthy enough to start again. He missed last week’s game at New Orleans with a knee injury, which was the first game he had missed due to injury since back in college in 2001.

So the seven inactive players for Miami are third-string quarterback Pat Devlin, rookie running back Michael Gillislee, cornerback Dimitri Patterson, rookie cornerback Will Davis, linebacker Josh Kaddu, guard Danny Watkins and rookie guard Dallas Thomas. Nolan Carroll is starting his fourth consecutive game in place of Patterson and Pro Bowler Randy Starks is starting at defensive tackle. Also, yesterday the Dolphins promoted safety Jordan Kovacs from the practice squad to the active roster and he is making his debut today.

For the Ravens, wide receivers Jacoby Jones and Marlon Brown, tackle Eugene Monroe, nose tackle Terrence Cody, guard/tackle Jah Reid, center Ryan Jensen and defensive end Marcus Spears are inactive.

Punter Brandon Fields, tight end Charles Clay and defensive tackle Paul Soliai are today’s team captains. … Hall-of-Famers Bob Griese and Dwight Stephenson are the honorary captains. … Grammy Award-winning artist Gloria Gaynor s singing today’s National Anthem and she is also performing at halftime with the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders and youth performers. … Today’s colors are being presented by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard, representing the Navy Operational Support Center in West Palm Beach.
