Team makes moves in defensive backfield.

The Miami Dolphins have been awarded defensive back Jalil Brown (from Indianapolis) off waivers, the team announced. To make room for Brown on the active roster the team placed defensive back D.J. Campbell on waivers.

The 6-1, 205-pound Brown joins Miami after spending the past seven weeks of the 2013 season with the Indianapolis Colts where he saw action in five games, recording 4 tackles. Brown originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft selection (118th overall) by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2011 NFL Draft. Brown spent two seasons with the Chiefs (2011-12) appearing in 29 games prior to being waived at the conclusion of training camp on September 1, 2013. He was signed by the Indianapolis Colts on October 22, 2013. Over the course of his career he has appeared in 34 career games with 2 starts while registering 37 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble.

Brown attended the University of Colorado (2006-10) where he appeared in 49 games, 28 of those in a starting role. He totaled 167 tackles, 24 passes defensed, five tackles for loss, four fumble recoveries, and ten special teams tackles for the Buffalos. Brown was an all-state selection at running back as a high school senior after rushing for 1,910 yards and 29 touchdowns while catching 15 passes for 400 yards and three scores. Born October 14, 1987 in Phoenix, Arizona, Brown attended South Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona.
