Pouncey Named To Pro Football Weekly/PFWA All-Rookie Team

Posted Jan 17, 2012

Even though the season for the Miami Dolphins ended more than two weeks ago, the honors keep rolling in for the team’s top rookie of 2011.

Center Mike Pouncey was named to the Pro Football Weekly/Professional Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. This comes on the heels of Pouncey being selected as an alternate to the Pro Bowl for the AFC team last month.

Pouncey was the only Dolphin honored by the PFWA and Pro Football Weekly when both the All-Rookie Team and the All-NFL Team were announced. He is following in the footsteps of his twin brother, Maurkice Pouncey, who in his second year as center for the Pittsburgh Steelers was chosen as the center for the All-NFL team and is the AFC’s starting center for the Pro Bowl.

With Maurkice Pouncey still recovering from an ankle injury that kept him out of Pittsburgh’s AFC Wild Card playoff loss to the Denver Broncos, there is a chance Mike Pouncey could make the trip to Hawaii to replace his brother at the Pro Bowl. If that happens he’ll be able to hold this honor from the PFWA and Pro Football Weekly high upon arrival.
