The University of Rhode Island will play its 1,000th football game this weekend and to pay homage to the program's history, the University recently announced the members of the Rhody Grand Team as voted by the fans.
Dolphins special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi was a standout tight end at Rhode Island, earning him a slot as one of the team's two tight ends. Rizzi initially made the Rams' roster as a walk-on. His career exploded during his sophomore season, when he racked up 167 yards and two touchdowns against Delaware.
By the time it was all said and done, Rizzi had progressed to earn All-American honors with the Rams.
