Posted Jan 24, 2012

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Paul Soliai was named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster today. The selection is the first for Soliai in his career as he replaces Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. The annual contest matching the AFC and NFC will be played on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“It’s an honor to be named to the Pro Bowl,” said Soliai. “I am looking forward to going to Hawaii and representing the Dolphins as well as the AFC, I know I like to thank everyone who helped me get here.”

“I want to congratulate Paul on being named to the Pro Bowl,” stated Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland. “It is a well-deserved honor and is a reward for the hard work and commitment he showed in 2011.”

Soliai, a fifth-year pro from the University of Utah, appeared in all 16 games in 2011 for the Dolphins with 12 of those games in a starting role. Soliai finished the season with 27 tackles, two tackles for loss and two passes defensed.

Soliai becomes the third member of the 2011 Miami Dolphins selected to the Pro Bowl joining left tackle Jake Long and wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
