Sweepstakes Winners Enjoy Behind-the-Scenes Trip on the 2014 Cheerleader Calendar Shoot

Dolphins fans win trips to the Dominican Republic get to a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the calendar.

This week the cheerleaders weren’t the only ones who enjoyed the idyllic setting of Dominican Republic for the calendar shoot. Two lucky contest winners and their guests also made the trip for a behind-the-scenes 2014 calendar shoot experience.

Elio Miglio, a 27-year old pharmacist from Miami, was the grand prizewinner of the sweepstakes sponsored by the Dominican Republic Department of Tourism. Miglio traveled to Dominican Republic for the first time along with his friend, Alex.

“I’ve never won anything big, so I was ecstatic when I found out,” said Miglio.

His favorite part of the 4-day, 3-night trip to Samaná was a toss-up he said.

“It’s hard to choose, but it was probably the boat excursion through the rainstorm with all of the cheerleaders or being in a real live bat cave right next to a bikini shoot in Los Haitises National Park.”

Bennett Auto Supply also conducted a sweepstakes, which awarded Henry Alonso, 24 with the grand prize all-expense-paid trip. Alonso, a contractor from Hialeah, Fla., was joined by his girlfriend, Joselin, and entered on after seeing a Bennett Auto Supply TV commercial promoting the sweepstakes.

“When I got the voicemail telling me I won, all I really heard was ‘Dolphins’ and ‘Cheerleaders’ and ‘Winner’ and I couldn’t believe it,” said Alonso.

Both winners saw firsthand the amount of work that goes into capturing the calendar.

“It was surprising to see how much is involved to find the perfect location for each photo – no matter how remote. I definitely appreciate the final product a lot more now,” said Alonso.

He also agreed with Giglio on how memorable the photo shoot in Los Haitises National Park was.

“That was such a cool day – exploring the caverns with the cheerleaders was a once in a lifetime experience.”

The winners and their guests enjoyed accommodations at the Grand Bahia Principe El Portillo, an all-inclusive resort on Dominican Republic’s Samaná Peninsula. They enjoyed the white sand beaches, two pools, nightly entertainment including a performance by the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, and sea kayaking.
