Thomas: I Can Fit In Any Type Of Offense

Posted Apr 26, 2013

New Dolphins offensive tackle shares his thoughts with the media.

(On his strengths) – “Well, I can do it all. I can play left or right, but, I think about it, it’s up to coach, wherever he wants me to. I’m just happy I got picked and get a chance to play ball. It’s my dream.”

(On if it was tough for him to switch from left tackle to guard during his senior season) – “Oh no, cause I was always interested in playing guard because you always get into competition with the guys saying that, ‘Could a tackle play guard? Like, he’ll get mad.’ It’s not as easy as you think it is and all this stuff then you get into it back and forth and going with it. But it was nothing.”

(On his conversation with the Dolphins after he was selected and if they indicated whether he’ll play at tackle or guard) – “They didn’t say. It’s up to coach, wherever he wants me. I’m just happy to get picked up.”

(On if he visited the Dolphins prior to the Draft and how much interest the team showed in him) – “I had talked to them a lot during…I talked to them at the Senior Bowl and at the Combine, but I didn’t have a chance to get down there like I wanted to.”

(On if he was surprised that the Dolphins selected him) – “Not that surprised because I had talked to them. We had like conversations and setting up a visit and stuff and all that, but I didn’t know where we were going to go with it and stuff.”

(On how much the competition in the SEC will help him in the NFL) – “It’s going to help a little bit, but I know going into the league, it’s just a whole other ball game. So I’ve just got to get in, learn and go from there.”

(On if he can come in and compete to start right away) – “That’s my dream. That’s what I hope for. I hope to just get in and compete and just go from there.”

(On the Dolphins preferring more agility and mobility in linemen and if he fits that model) – “Yes, sir. I can fit in any type of offense cause I feel I’m that athletic to get the job done.”
