A day after the Dolphins signed a pair of young receivers, the Dolphins today announced a free agent visit with veteran Nate Burleson.

Burleson spent the previous four seasons (2010-13) with the Detroit Lions, after having also played with the Seattle Seahawks (2006–09) and Minnesota Vikings (2003–05). He was selected in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Vikings with the 71st overall pick.

An 11-year veteran, Burleson has totaled 457 receptions for 5,630 yards (12.4 avg.) and 39 touchdowns. He became the first player in NFL history to return 3 separate punts for 90 yards and is also the Seahawks franchise record holder for punt return yards in a playoff game (84).

Burleson played college football at the University of Nevada. He led the NCAA in both receiving yards and in receptions per game as a senior year. During his college career he totaled 248 receptions for 3,293 yards and 22 touchdowns.
