PRESS RELEASE: Aponte Named To USA Football Board Of Directors

USA Football leads the game’s development for youth, high school and other amateur football players.

USA Football, the sport’s national governing body, announced today that Miami Dolphins Executive Vice President Dawn Aponte has been named to the independent nonprofit’s board of directors. USA Football leads the game’s development for youth, high school and other amateur football players. The Indianapolis-based organization with members in 50 states and Washington, D.C., created and administers the education-based player safety program Heads Up Football.

Aponte joins four other recently named board members: Director of Louisiana Youth Football LEROY HOLLINS II, Green Bay Packers President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Murphy, NorthShore University HealthSystems board-certified neurological surgeon Dr. Gail L. Rosseau and Cincinnati St. Xavier High School head football coach Steve Specht.

Aponte was promoted to executive vice president of football administration of the Dolphins in July 2012 after serving as the club's senior vice president of football operations from 2010-11. She works closely with General Manager Jeff Ireland and Head Coach Joe Philbin on football administrative matters and serves as the team's chief contract negotiator. She is responsible for the management and strategic planning of the Dolphins’ salary cap, negotiating and drafting player contracts and overseeing the football operations budgets.
