PRESS RELEASE: Dolphins Make Roster Move

Team signs defensive tackle from practice squad.

The Miami Dolphins have promoted defensive tackle Isaako Aaitui from the teams practice squad to the active roster, the team announced.

The 6-4, 315 pound Aaitui joins Miami’s active roster after spending the past four weeks of the 2013 season on the teams practice squad. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent on October 4, 2011 as a member of the Dolphins practice squad, where he spent the final 13 weeks of the 2011 season. Aaitui spent training camp in 2012 with the Dolphins prior to being waived on September 1, 2012, he was claimed by the New York Jets on September 2, 2012 but was released on September 4, 2012. Aaitui was signed by the New Orleans Saints on May, 16, 2013 and spent training camp with the team prior to being released on August 31, 2013.

Aaitui was a four-year letterman and two-year starter at UNLV, during his career with the Rebels he appeared in 31 games with 19 starts and recorded 73 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. As a senior in 2010 he was a third-team all-Mountain West Conference selection after appearing in 13 games with 12 starts and recorded five tackles for a loss. Born on January 25, 1987, Aaitui attended Faga'itua HS, in Pago Pago, American Samoa. His full name is pronounced e-saw-AH-co ah-ah-2-e.
