THIS AND THAT

You had a stellar collegiate career at Texas and topped it off with a Rose Bowl win in one of the most exciting National Championship games in a long time. What was that like? ?“It was a dream come true. Coming into Texas, my recruiting class was tops. Of course we had Vince Young in there. As freshmen, we knew that was the expectation of our class and to seal it off in our last year there was like a dream come true. We worked our whole career there at Texas and it all paid off. It was kind of weird because as soon it was done it was more of a sad feeling. For me, going into that locker room at the end of the game I realized that this was my last time with this group in the locker room. We were so happy and trying to celebrate, but I was thinking that ‘hey, this is the last time.’ It was kind of weird though - you moved on pretty much right afterwards to start getting ready for the draft. But it’s something that I will remember forever. Every time I see those guys that I played with in that game it immediately pops up. I love everybody on that team. I’m always going to remember that.”

Bowling is an off-field hobby of yours. How’d you get into that and who do you usually roll with? “It’s just something that I’ve grown to have an interest in since I was a kid. It wasn’t like I had my own bowling ball or anything like that. It was my sophomore or junior year at Texas and we started going every Thursday night – going to the bowling alley. It started with three or four people on the team and then pretty soon everyone started coming. Every Thursday was a big bowling night for us.”

Every player has a story of their respective, “welcome to the NFL moment.” Have you had yours yet? “Probably a play against Oakland. It was me, (Derrick) Pope and Channing Crowder, and we made a big play close to their end zone and backed them up. I just got real excited and I was in the end zone getting the crowd hyped up. That was a big play and a big stop so that was my moment right there.”
