Dolphins Promote Isaac Asiata To Active Roster

MIAMI – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have promoted guard Isaac Asiata to the active roster and waived linebacker Martrell Spaight.

Asiata has spent the entire season on Miami's practice squad after being waived on Sept. 1, 2018. He played in one game for the Dolphins in 2017, making his NFL debut on special teams vs. Buffalo on Dec. 31, 2017. Asiata originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (164th overall) by Miami in the 2017 NFL draft. He started 39 consecutive games to finish his collegiate career at Utah.

Spaight played in four games for Miami this season after he was signed by the team on Sept. 26, 2018. He recorded one special teams tackle. Spaight came to the Dolphins after four season in Washington. During his career, he's totaled 34 games played, seven starts, 87 tackles (54 solo), one interception, three passes defensed and one fumble recovery. He also has 18 career special teams tackles. Spaight originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick (141st overall) by Washington in the 2015 NFL draft.
