Top Quotes: Dolphins and Jets square off in prime time

The Dolphins and Jets will meet at Hard Rock Stadium for a Week 4 prime-time matchup on Monday Night Football. It marks the 120th all-time meeting (playoffs included) between the two franchises with the Dolphins leading the series 61-57-1.

Both teams enter the game 0-3. Overcoming a three-game deficit to start the season is not easy, but the winner of this matchup can put themselves in position to turn things around.

1-0 Mindset

Head Coach Mike McDaniel – "Realistically, any losing streak in the National Football League or any time you've had a couple losses, you go a little time because you put so much time during the week, any time that's the case, your team is tested because that positive reinforcement isn't there necessarily for a couple days, couple weeks. If you have the right leadership and the right collection of people, you press forward, you improve. While everyone is talking about your past, you have to focus on your present. You have to continually improve on everything."

Wide Receiver Malik Washington – "We're excited to play on Monday Night Football, we're excited to go 1-0 each day. We're excited to come into the building and be with each other, so right now I think the mood is – we're thriving, we're hoping to get our first win on Monday, but we're just gelling together."

Outside Linebacker Jaelan Phillips – "My first year with the Dolphins, we were I think 1-7 and then won eight games in a row or seven out of nine or something like that. So I've seen almost every year on both sides how things change in an instant. You can go on a winning streak and then lose a bunch of games and vice versa. So I think what's important is to take it week by week and not be concerned about our record now or anything like that. Obviously it's a pressing issue – look, we need to start winning games – but it's not a death sentence for us and it's not indicative of how the rest of the season is going to go."

The Jets

Wide Receiver Jaylen Waddle - "The Jets are always a hard team to play against, especially defensively. They do a lot of great things and it starts with they've got really good guys up front and then ties in to the linebackers and then the DBs are great with Sauce (Gardner), of course. It's always a challenge every time we go against a good team, a good defense like that."

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (on his undefeated record against the Jets) – "I don't think any of it translates. None of the wins from last year can translate to this year and vice versa. So we've got to go out, this is a new scheme team but we've seen this scheme before. For the most part, same players, some changes in the backend. We'll get a gauge on what they want to do on Monday night and we'll go from there."

Head Coach Mike McDaniel – "Coach Aaron Glenn, I have the utmost respect for him and he sees football differently than the last regime so they emphasize different things. There are some overlapping players and the uniforms most of the time are the same. I don't think they will be for this Monday night, right? Outside of that, it's a new team and they have their own identity. Just (Sunday) they had a game where a lot of teams might have tapped, they sure didn't. Had a heartbreaker so they'll be a new team with a new energy which makes them very different as an opposing team for us."
