The 2026 season marks the 18th of his career – his second in the NFL after 16 years in the collegiate coaching ranks.
Prior to joining Miami, Hamdan had a brief stint at Mississippi State, where he was hired as associate head coach for offense in December 2025. Hamdan spent two seasons (2024-25) at Kentucky, where he served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for the Wildcats.
Hamdan spent one season (2023) at Boise State as the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. Under his guidance, the Broncos scored 30 or more points in nine consecutive games. Running back Ashton Jeanty led the nation in yards from scrimmage (159.7 yards per game), earning him first-team All-America honors and Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year.
Hamdan coached quarterbacks for three seasons (2020-22) at Missouri, while also coaching wide receivers in 2020 and 2021. The Tigers ranked 32nd nationally in passing offense in 2020 and earned a bowl bid in each of his three seasons.
Over the course of his coaching career, Hamdan spent four seasons at Washington. He served as the Huskies' offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach for two seasons (2018-19). He was the wide receivers coach/pass game coordinator in 2016 after first joining the staff as an offensive quality control coach in 2015.
Under his tutelage, Washington won two Pac-12 titles (2016, 2018). In 2018, the Huskies totaled 3,337 passing yards, the fourth most in school history, and earned a trip to the Rose Bowl. In 2016, Hamdan coached wide receivers John Ross III and Dante Pettis, who set a Pac-12 record with a combined 32 receiving touchdowns, leading the Huskies to a Peach Bowl appearance. Ross III was named an All-American and was selected as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by Cincinnati.
In between stints at Washington, Hamdan spent the 2017 season with the Atlanta Falcons as quarterbacks coach, where he helped the team advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. He coached reigning NFL MVP Matt Ryan, who threw for 4,095 yards, the sixth-most in the league.
Hamdan served as offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Davidson in 2014. The Wildcats had five players earn postseason honors from the Pioneer Football League, including running back Jeffrey Keil who was named PFL Offensive Freshman of the Year.
Hamdan spent one season as co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at Arkansas State in 2013. He helped the Red Wolves to the Sun Belt championship and a GoDaddy Bowl victory with a top-25 rushing offense.
Hamdan served as the wide receivers coach at Florida in 2012, where he helped the Gators to an 11-2 finish and an appearance in the Sugar Bowl.
Hamdan coached tight ends at Sacramento State in 2011 and served as an offensive quality control coach at Maryland in 2010. He began his coaching career at Colorado in 2009 as a student assistant.
Hamdan was a three-year letterwinner and two-time team captain as quarterback at Boise State (2004-08). The Broncos went 35-4 over his final three seasons, including a 13-0 season and a Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma in 2006. He earned the Bronco Excellence Award for integrity and leadership as a senior.
A Gaithersburg, Maryland native, Hamdan earned his bachelor's degree in communication from Boise State and his master's degree in athletic administration from Idaho State. He and his wife, Brita, have three children, Sedona, Archer and Sahar.
