The Dolphins have officially signed cornerback Marco Wilson. A fourth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, Wilson has played a lot of football since entering the league. Over his first three seasons alone, Wilson played 44 games with 37 starts for the Cardinals before stints with the Patriots and the Bengals. In total, he has 64 career games played, 37 starts, three interceptions, 179 combined tackles, three forced fumbles and 20 passes defensed.
1. Tale of the tape
The physical talents of the Dolphins newest cornerback are undeniable. Wilson blew the doors off his pro day workout ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. He posted a 43.5-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-4-inch broad jump, both among the 99th percentile among cornerbacks since 1987. He joined rare air when he put up 26 bench press reps of 225 pounds, also in the 99th percentile. Wilson also clocked a 4.34 40-yard dash and his times in the shuttle (4.09) and three-cone (6.8) were in the 90th percentile or higher.
Those physical abilities are on Wilson's tape. He is a smooth mover who can go stride-for-stride with the game's fastest wide receivers down the field, or fire out of a backpedal and contest a short pass. He's a high-energy, explosive athlete who never shies away from contact.
2. From American Heritage to Hard Rock Stadium
A Fort Lauderdale native, Wilson played his high school football at one of the nation's top powerhouses: American Heritage High School. From his prep roots in Plantation, Florida, he'll play his 2026 home games less than 20 miles from where it all began.
A lifelong fan of the aqua and orange, Wilson now realizes a childhood dream as a Dolphin.
3. Going up state
With offers from just about every major college football program, Wilson opted for Gainesville and the Florida Gators. He started as a true freshman recording 34 tackles and 10 passes defensed.
Wilson redshirted as a sophomore and returned the following year to produce one of the best seasons of his college career, recording three interceptions and 2.5 tackles for loss.
