Dolphins Announce 2025 Preseason Schedule

One week after the unveiling of the 2025 NFL schedule, we now know who the Dolphins will square off against in preparations for September at the start of the regular season.

Miami will travel to a pair of Midwest towns to open the exhibition slate before concluding the preseason at home against an in-state foe.

DATE OPPONENT NETWORK TIME
Sun., Aug. 10 at Chicago CBS Miami 1:00 PM
Sat., Aug. 16 at Detroit CBS Miami 1:00 PM
Sat., Aug. 23 JACKSONVILLE CBS Miami 7:00 PM

The Dolphins will hold joint practices against all three teams, including a date at the Baptist Health Training Complex with Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.

The early road slate allows Miami to operate a test run for the season opener, which puts the Dolphins against the Colts in Indianapolis on Sept. 7.

The Bears hired former Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson this offseason as their new head coach. Lauded for the balance and creativity he brought to the Detroit offense, Miami's defense will get a good test for its communication and understanding of the structure put in place by Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver.

Then, it's on to Detroit, and the best measure of grit perhaps in the entire NFL. The Dolphins, one week after facing a Chicago team that bolstered the lines on both sides of the ball, will see another team with some of the best line play in the league.

The Dolphins and Jaguars will tee it up on August 23 under the lights to close the preseason at Hard Rock Stadium. Like the Bears, the Jaguars are in their first year under new leadership as Liam Cohen made the trip upstate, going from offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay to the head coach in Jacksonville.

Rookie sensation and first-round selection Travis Hunter and instant-impact play maker Brian Thomas Jr. will give Miami a look at one of the best wide receiver tandems in the NFL.

It's a unique exhibition schedule for the Dolphins. Miami played in Chicago in the preseason ahead of the 2021 campaign for the second time in the last 20 years. The two squared off in Chicago in 2015 and in Canton at the Hall of Fame Game in 2005.

The Jaguars were a near-annual August opponent for the Dolphins as the two sides matched up eight consecutive years between 2003-10, but have only faced off three times in the 14 seasons since.

Lions-Dolphins, meanwhile, is almost a preseason anomaly. This will be the first time Detroit and Miami play in the preseason this century. The last time the two sides squared off in the preseason was a 31-10 win by Miami on Aug. 28, 1999. Before that, another 31-point output by Miami in 1981.

Preseason games can be seen locally in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market on CBS Miami, the official home of the Miami Dolphins in South Florida, and will be re-aired on the FanDuel Sports Network.
