Inside the Numbers: Waller shines in his Dolphins debut, while the defense finds opportunities in win over the New York Jets.

The Dolphins registered their first win of 2025 season on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets. Despite possessing the ball just eight times, in addition to a kneel-down drive, the Dolphins scored 27 points en route to victory.

New Dolphins tight end Darren Waller caught a pair of touchdowns from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and the defense forced three takeaways.

We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from the Dolphins first win of the 2025 season.

Taking down the Jets… again

The last time the Jets won a game at Hard Rock Stadium was the 2015 season. The 10-game winning streak at home is Miami's third-longest against any one opponent, and the longest since a 15-game streak of wins over New England that came to an end in 1986.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa moved to 6-0 all-time in starts against the Jets. In total, Miami has beaten the Jets nine of the last 11 meetings.

Welcome to Miami, Darren Waller

It was the first NFL game for tight end Darren Waller since January 2024 and his Dolphins debut. Waller posted his first multi-touchdown game since December 6, 2020 – also vs. the Jets, when he played for the Raiders.

Despite playing just one game, Waller moved into a tie for fourth among all NFL tight ends with two receiving touchdowns this year.

Back-to-back games with no sacks allowed

The Dolphins offensive line did not allow a sack for the second consecutive game. It's the first time Miami has not allowed a sack in back-to-back games since Weeks 16 and 17 of the 2016 season. The Dolphins also did not allow a quarterback hit against the Jets and paved the way for 123 rushing yards on 31 carries (4.0 yards per attempt).

Achane goes off

Running back De'Von Achane has only played 32 career games. He has gone over 100 yards from scrimmage in 14 of those games and scored 26 total touchdowns. He visited pay dirt on a nine-yard rush Monday, giving him 15 career rushing touchdowns. He became the third player since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger to record 15-plus rushing touchdowns and 10-plus receiving scores in his first 32 games, joining Chuck Foreman and Kareem Hunt.

Take It Away

Miami's defense forced three turnovers for the first time since January 7, 2024 vs. Buffalo. Cornerback Jack Jones, linebacker Tyrel Dodson and safety Dante Trader Jr. all forced fumbles that were recovered by the Dolphins. Trader fell on the fumble he forced – the first of each in his career, while linebacker Jaelan Phillips and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick covered the other two.

He Doesn't Miss

Kicker Riley Patterson made all four his kicks on Monday night – two extra points and field goals of 37 and 46 yards. He's now a perfect nine-for-nine on point after tries and four-for-four on field goals this season.

Milestones and Achievements

Jaelan Phillips appeared in his 50th career game and Jack Jones made his 25th career start.

The Dolphins debuted their "Rivalries" uniforms on Monday night, becoming the first team to win in the uniforms after Arizona's loss to Seattle on Thursday night.
