Dolphins Make Roster Moves

The Miami Dolphins announced today that they have signed offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill and waived quarterback Brett Gabbert. The team also placed offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg and tight end Darren Waller on the physically unable to perform list and safety Ifeatu Melifonwu on the non-football injury list.

Brunskill has appeared in 92 games with 66 starts – one at left tackle, one at left guard, 16 at center, 44 at right guard and four at right tackle – in six seasons with San Francisco (2019-22) and Tennessee (2023-24). He also played in nine postseason games with three starts with the 49ers in 2019, 2021 and 2022. Brunskill entered the NFL in 2017 as an undrafted college free agent with Atlanta, where he spent two seasons (2017-18) on the practice squad. He played collegiately at San Diego State (2013-16), where he appeared in 53 games with 32 starts in four seasons with the Aztecs.

Eichenberg has spent four seasons with Miami (2021-24) and has appeared in 60 career games with 52 starts – 14 at left tackle, 11 at left guard, eight at center, 17 at right guard and two at right tackle. He also started at center in one postseason game with the Dolphins in 2023. Eichenberg entered the NFL as a second-round selection (42nd overall) by Miami in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Notre Dame (2017-20), where he appeared in 43 games with 38 starts.

Gabbert signed with Miami on May 22, 2025, as an undrafted college free agent. He started 53 games in six seasons (2019-24) at Miami (OH), where he completed 778-of-1,331 passing attempts (58.5 pct.) for 10,814 yards and 80 touchdowns with 30 interceptions. Gabbert finished his career ranked second all-time among RedHawks quarterbacks in touchdown passes and third in passing yards. He also recorded 294 rushing attempts for 482 yards and eight touchdowns. He was a three-time All-MAC selection (2021, 2022, 2024) and a four-time Academic All-MAC honoree (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). He is the brother of NFL veteran quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

Melifonwu (name is pronounced ee-FAH-too mel-uh-fawn-woo), who signed with Miami on March 13, 2025, has appeared in 37 career games with 14 starts in four seasons with Detroit (2021-24). He has recorded 68 tackles (51 solo), 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, 13 passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in his career. Melifonwu also started in four postseason games with Detroit in 2023 and 2024, recording 17 tackles (10 solo) and 2.0 sacks. He entered the NFL as third-round selection (101st overall) by Detroit in the 2021 NFL Draft. Melifonwu played collegiately at Syracuse (2017-20), where he appeared in 29 games with 19 starts in four seasons with the Orange and recorded 88 tackles (71 solo), 1.0 sack, three interceptions and 26 passes defensed.

Waller, who was acquired by Miami on July 7, 2025, via a trade with the New York Giants, has appeared in 86 career games with 63 starts in eight seasons with Baltimore (2015-16), Oakland/Las Vegas (2018-22) and the New York Giants (2023). He has recorded 350 receptions for 4,124 yards (11.8 avg.) and 20 touchdowns in his career. Waller also started one postseason game with Las Vegas and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2020. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (204th overall) by Baltimore in the 2015 NFL Draft after a collegiate career at Georgia Tech (2011-14), where he appeared in 50 games with 22 starts in four seasons with the Yellow Jackets and recorded 51 receptions for 971 yards (19.0 avg.) and nine touchdowns.
