The Dolphins kept the streak going with their third-straight win, and fourth in the last five games, with a 21-17 win over the Saints Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins rode a sterling defensive effort and strong running game to bring their season record to 5-7.
We go Inside the Numbers, presented by BDO, to look at the most notable individual metrics, milestones and more from the Dolphins win over the Saints.
Streaking
The Dolphins' three-game winning streak is Miami's longest winning streak since recording three consecutive wins in Weeks 10-12 during the 2024 season. It is the sixth time under Head Coach Mike McDaniel that the Dolphins have won three consecutive games.
Physical offense
The Dolphins winning streak correlates with the team's three highest rushing total games of the 2025 season. The Dolphins are averaging 176.7 yards per game since the streak started in Week 10, the best mark in the NFL in that span.
Running back De'Von Achane totaled 134 yards on 22 carries on Sunday, eclipsing 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. He became the fourth player in Dolphins history to reach the mark in the first 12 games of a season, joining Larry Csonka in 1972, Delvin Williams in 1978 and Ricky Williams in 2002 and 2003.
The Dolphins have rushed for 1,405 yards through the first 12 games of the season, marking just the fourth time since 2010 that they have rushed for 1,400-plus yards in the first 12 games of the year (2011, 2014 and 2023). Miami has rushed for 160-plus yards in each game during their three-game winning streak. It is the first time they have rushed for 160 or more yards in three straight games since Weeks 12-14 in the 2002 season.
Dominant defense
The Miami defense is providing the perfect complement to the offense's power run game. Since the start of the three-game winning streak in Week 10, the Dolphins defense has allowed just 14.3 points per game, the best mark in the NFL during that span. The Dolphins have also forced seven turnovers since Week 10, tied for the third-most in the NFL during that span.
The Dolphins recorded four sacks in the win, the most since December 2024 in Houston. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick tallied 1.0 sack, while linebacker Chop Robinson had 1.5 sacks, splitting one with rookie defensive tackle Zeek Biggers, the first of his career. Linebacker Bradley Chubb joined in with a fourth-quarter sack of QB Tyler Shough.
Minkah's big day
On New Orleans' potentially game-tying two-point attempt with 1:23 left to play in the game, Fitzpatrick intercepted Shough and returned it the length of the field for a defensive two-point conversion. It marked Miami's first defensive two-point conversion since Walt Aikens returned a blocked extra point for a two-point score vs. Arizona on December 11, 2016.
In addition to his defensive two-point conversion, Fitzpatrick strip-sacked Saints quarterback Tyler Shough in the second quarter, leading to a recovery by defensive tackle Zach Sieler and giving the Dolphins possession in New Orleans territory. It was the first sack in Fitzpatrick's decorated career. He finished the game with seven stops (four solo), 1.0 sack, a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and the defensive two-point score.
